Our Work
Prayer must be balanced by work and we recognize our common human obligation to do what we can towards supporting ourselves.
Our community earns its living primarily by undertaking tradework, notably through the sale of Quidenham cards. This is a flourishing business in greetings cards that engages the creative and management skills of many of the sisters.
We also have limited accommodation for guests, who are welcomed and cared for by the Guest Sister during their stay with us.
Certain of our members find an outlet for their personal talents: painting, embroidery, translation and other literary projects have all featured as ways of contributing to the community income.
At the same time we undertake the running and maintenance of our own house and garden and support a kitchen garden, complete with orchard and beehives, to contribute to our vegetarian diet.
